SDCC 08: Saw V Clip & Trap Description

Dude, you're stuck in a glass box thing!A Saw V clip is spinning right now at Comic-Con, and we’ve got the description of it right here!

First, Buz chimed in saying the trap shown in the fourth Saw sequel’s teaser was a “glass box thing stuck on a dude’s head.” OK, that as descriptive as we’re going to get, I guess, but Buz sure made me laugh with that text message. Anyway, on to the clip…

There’s a man chained to a table, he is completely immobilized. Above him hovers a pendulum, and by his hands rest vices. A TV flickers to life, and we see the familiar face of Billy, Jigsaw’s puppet.

Jigsaw, explaining through Billy as usual, informs the prisoner that he is there because the game master believes he did not get a sufficient sentence for the crimes he had committed with his bare hands.

Life or death is up to the prey. He can stick his hands in the vices, where they will be mangled, unable to aid him in committing violence against another innocent person, or he can be sliced in two by the awaiting pendulum.

The gamer chooses crushed hands, and indeed Jigsaw’s trap does mash his grabbers and the machine stops swinging the blade of death. But … something has gone wrong. The machine belts back into life and the scene cuts to black.

There you have it. It looks as though the new Jigsaw may not be playing by the rules!

David Hackl was on hand to give those in attendance a deeper look at what he intends to bring to this latest addition of the Saw franchise. Mr. Hackl made mention that is upping the ante because he saved the very best traps for his movie. That means we may see people mangled and murdered in ways we never thought possible on screen. The director also explained that the audience will be given more information about the original Jigsaw (Tobin Bell). More flashbacks? Probably.

The tag line that appeared in the teaser is also a bit creepy:

His message is righteous.
His love is everlasting.
His gift is life.
