San Diego Comic-Con 2008!Checking in from Comic Con this time with us is our diligent webmaster, Condit, also known as valuerocker. He sat in on a Hack/Slash presentation done by Devil’s Due and has returned with some very cool news about the future of the comic and the long-gestating film.

We know the story is slowly making its way to the big screen, but the details have been slim until now. Writer Justin Marks has finished and delivered the screenplay, which is a good sign. “It’s really about doing a movie that’s not something we have seen before,” Marks said from the panel. Director Todd Lincoln called it “a blood-soaked buddy movie”; pretty encouraging to us!

The story is, of course, an origin with some new bits thrown in to make the fans happy. No casting has taken place yet, but they did say that we would be “very surprised” as to some of the people they’ve approached to be in it. Hopefully shooting will be under way before the end of the year!

On the comic side, Hack Slash will see an Annual released this year, which will have them teaming with the luscious Suicide Girls. In it Cassie tracks a killer who’s been murdering Suicide Girls through computers (?). Does this mean we’ll see Cassie done up as an SG? One can hope!

In other Devil’s Due news, the publisher announced that they’ve teamed up with Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street.com, which will serve as an online community for their creative works. The comic section launched today at 6PM PST, and the first submission is called Necro. Be sure to check it out!
