In Case You Didn’t Know, Satan Hates You
It could be one of the best titles in movie history: Satan Hates You, a project that’s been in one stage of production or another for almost four years now. We’ve seen it around here and there, but not until reader “Aaron” dropped us a line telling us to check it out, did I make an effort to really look into it. Glad I did!
First of all, the film is a production of Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix, a company I’ve been fascinated with for a while now, and is the latest directorial effort from Automatons helmer James Felix McKenney, who also wrote and is editng the film. He’s served producer duties on other Glass Eye films like The Last Winter, I Can See You, I Sell the Dead, The Roost and The Off Season, to name a few.
All right, so its cred is in place; what the hell is it about? That is a bit of an unknown right now; all we can say is that it follows two individuals and their issues with the devil. Satan Hates You is an homage to the religious “scare” cinema of the 60’s and 70’s, when movies were made with the express purpose of bending the truth way out of proportion in order to scare people into avoiding things like loud music, drugs and basically anything else that was fun.
Recently the production added Debbie Rochon, Blood Shed director/star Alan Rowe Kelly, Michael Berryman and World War Z author Max Brooks to a cast that already includes Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister and Larry Fessenden. Not a bad lineup at all! It sounds like a very cool and different horror movie; we’d expect nothing less from Glass Eye, so rest assured we’ll be following it from now on!
Check out the official Satan Hates You site for more, and make friends with them on MySpace, lest they make the promise of the film’s title be fulfilled. Satan’s the kinda guy whose bad side you do not want to be on!
