Battle for Los Angeles
It’s been a while since a studio’s really gotten behind an alien invasion film (Cloverfield doesn’t count since it was JJ Abrams and we have no idea where it came from), but The Hollywood Reporter got word this morning of a script called Battle: Los Angeles that Columbia has optioned.
Written by The General’s Daughter penner Chris Bertolini, Battle tells of one Marine platoon’s encounter with an alien invasion that’s making its way to the streets of LA. I haven’t been to LA in a while, but really, is there anything left worth fighting for there?
“I love the idea, and I love the script. I like it all,” producer Neal Moritz of Original Films told the trade. “We are going to be in production within six months. What’s attractive to me is that it’s a huge event movie that can be done at a modest scale.”
Don’t worry; that doesn’t mean they’re doing it handheld. Keep it here for more Battle: Los Angeles news as we get it!
