Toolbox Murders 2 Moves Forward

Toolbox Murders 2?Here’s a project I never expected to hear about again: Toolbox Murders 2, the sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 2003 remake of the 1978 original. Fangoria got to chatting with long-time second unit director and FX vet Dean Jones recently, who revealed that he’ll be helming Toolbox 2, possibly as early as May.

Jeffrey Reddick (Day of the Dead remake) is on scripting duties with some pretty solid ideas to move the story forward. ”The story will pick up where the first movie left off,” Jones tells the mag. ”We will be bringing back Nell [played in the original by Angela Bettis, pictured] and her husband, plus a few other characters. The story will continue to take place in Hollywood. This time you will see more of the killer; there will be more murders and more of a backstory about where he’s from and how he came to be.”

Maybe they’ll try and explain the strange supernatural element that was barely touched on in Hooper’s film? Here’s hoping. If all goes well, you can expect to hear more Toolbox Murders 2 news soon!
