#SDCC14: Jeffrey Reddick and JD Matthews Team for Tamara Novel
Back in 2005 (Christ, where does the time go?) Final Destination writer Jeffrey Reddick created a little flick by the name of Tamara, which starred the now everywhere Jenna Dewan. In the vein of Carrie the flick featured a vengeful super-hot chick with a big axe. What’s not to like?
Now, nearly a decade later Reddick is revisiting this titular character along with author JD Matthews for a special novelization. “The book is based off the original R-rated draft of Tamara that I sold to Lionsgate,” Reddick tells us.
He adds, “This is my first book, and I’m really excited about the project. Writing is my passion, and I’m thrilled to team up with someone as talented as JD. Tamara has a cult following, and I wanted to show fans the uncut version of the story. I also wanted to give people who’ve never seen the movie a chance to read the story of Tamara Riley.”
If you missed the film, Tamara tells the story of an unattractive and unpopular young girl who’s constantly bullied by classmates. Her only source of relief is dabbling in some old witchcraft books left to her by her mother. After being killed in a horrible prank, Tamara comes back from the grave as a sexy vixen who knows the dark secrets of all of her tormentors. She uses these secrets to get revenge against the kids responsible for her death. And she uses her new powers of seduction to go after the one thing she’s always wanted… Billy Natolly, her married English teacher.
Look for the book in late August/early September. Reddick will be signing at this weekend’s Comic-Con at the Prism booth (#2144) in Hall C on Friday, July 25, 9 am to 2 pm and then on Saturday, July 26, from 2 pm to 7 pm. He’ll also be signing and doing a daily raffle for some ultra rare Final Destination collectibles.
Look for more on the book soon, and in the interim check out the official Tamara Facebook page.
