A true horror fan can never get enough Dario Argento. I think the people at Anchor Bay know that because we heard through the grapevine that some fancy releases are coming up for a few Argento flicks. What’s so fancy? Well, the DVDs will be housed in metal slip-cases! First let’s look at some of the most anticipated DVD releases from the maestro.
Phenomena, starring Jennifer Connelly and Donald Pleasence, is finally coming out on DVD with some kickass extras. We’re not talking one or two things here; this release is packing some heat (more on that below). The film centers around a young girl (Connelly) who suffers from sleepwalking and has telepathic powers. If her life wasn’t tough enough, there is a serial killer loose in her school!
Next we’ve got the 1982 title Tenebre, which stars Anthony Franciosa and John Saxon in a tale about a writer who is trying to hunt down a person who is using his literary work to commit murders. This new DVD release of Tenebre also boasts a number of special features including a three-person commentary with Dario Argento, music composer Claudio Simonetti and journalist Loris Curci.
Is that all? Hell no! We also found out that a five-film Argento collection is also in the works. The set will include Tenebre, Phenomena, Trauma, The Card Player and Do You Like Hitchcock? (review)! Below you’ll find all the details on the special features. We’re not sure when these will hit store shelves, but we’ll update as soon as we find out.
