Thomas Kills in Red Velvet?
A few days back, when we did our latest Fear Fest update and mentioned that E.T. star Henry Thomas would be joining us in Texas this March 7th-9th, were you a bit perplexed? Sure, Thomas has done some good genre work in things like Dead Birds, but why’s he hitting cons now?
The answer arrived in my inbox last night; Red Velvet, the directorial debut of cinematographer Bruce Dickson. Thomas stars in the film alongside Kelli Garner, you dig; they play a pair of strangers who, after a chance encounter at a laundromat, end up meeting for lunch, where Thomas’ character spins increasingly dark tales in order to seduce her. When she tells him her best friend is missing after a birthday party, he comes to the conclusion that a man in a white jump suit slaughtered all the partygoers. What’s really scary is he seems to be telling more than just a story.
Red Velvet’s been called a mindfuck movie, my favorite kind of horror, and has been gaining accolades wherever it plays. To make matters weirder, we heard it referred to as “Dario Argento meets Shaun of the Dead”. How’s that for a mindfuck?
Hit up the official Red Velvet site to learn more about the movie, and be sure you make it out to Fear Fest to meet Thomas in person and find out even more!
Discuss what you would wear to a slaughter in the Dread Central forums!
