Curry Barker’s Dad, Jeff Barker, to Direct Horror Short ‘Medium Rare’ Starring Dane Cook

It seems the filmmaking bug runs in Curry Barker’s (Obsession) family, as THR reported that his father, Jeff Barker, is set to direct the horror short Medium Rare starring Dane Cook (pictured above in Employee of the Month).
Lesley Ann Warren (Clue) also stars.
Described as a psychological horror film, Medium Rare follows a man trapped inside a bar, where reality begins to unravel in increasingly disturbing ways.
Said Jeff Barker, “Medium Rare is a short story I wrote eight years ago. I’m honored by the team of people helping me bring this project to life”.
A screenwriter by trade, Jeff Barker previously worked as a script consultant on Obsession. THR notes that he’s the one responsible for penning that incredibly unsettling Hansel and Gretel monologue that star Inde Navarrette delivers during the party scene.
As for Cook, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. The comedian was big in the early aughts, appearing in films like Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck, and Mr. Brooks, to name a few.
Producers are Jacob Yakob, Mehrodod Heydari of LD Entertainment, Alex Bretow and Kourosh Ahari of Mammoth Pictures, Lee Roy Kunz of World’s Fair Pictures, and Chuck Shaughnessy.
Production on Medium Rare is expected to begin in Los Angeles later this summer.
