Exclusive: Meet the New Ed and Lorraine Warren in ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’

Exclusive: Meet the New Ed and Lorraine Warren in 'The Conjuring: First Communion'

EXCLUSIVE: Say a prayer, because filming is now underway on Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s The Conjuring prequel, The Conjuring: First Communion, and Dread Central has learned the first casting details for the latest installment in the long-running horror franchise.

Dread Central can exclusively reveal that Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk, Manifest) has been cast as a young Ed Warren, while Amanda Fix (Orphan Black: Echoes, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma) will play a young Lorraine Warren.

It’s currently unclear whether Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as the older versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren in some capacity.

Plot details for The Conjuring: First Communion remain under wraps. Rodrigue Huart will direct from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg.

As far as I can recall, the Conjuring Universe includes The Conjuring (2013; set 1971), Annabelle (2014; set 1967), The Conjuring 2 (2016; set 1977), Annabelle: Creation (2017; set 1943 and 1955), The Nun (2018; set 1952), The Curse of La Llorona (2019; set 1973), Annabelle Comes Home (2019; set 1972), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021; set 1981), The Nun II (2023; set 1956), and The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025; set 1986).

If my count is correct (I hope!), this would make 11 movies, more than the entire A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, and nipping on the heels of Friday the 13th, which has been stagnant since 2009.

Interestingly, Warner Bros. has set The Revenge of La Llorona, the sequel to The Curse of La Llorona, for theatrical release on April 9, 2027.

The Conjuring: First Communion will follow, officially haunting theaters on September 10, 2027.
