2026 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards Revealed: Vote Now!

FANGORIA has announced the nominees for the 2026 FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards, with fan voting opening July 2 and running through July 15.

Leading this year’s nominations are 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Dust Bunny, with nine nominations each. They are followed by Backrooms with six, while The Bride!, Frankenstein, and Hokum each earned five nominations. Obsession picked up four nominations.

Dust Bunny received nominations including Best Wide Release, Best Director, and Best Supporting Performance nods for Mads Mikkelsen and Sigourney Weaver.

Nia DaCosta‘s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple earned nominations for Best Wide Release, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Score, and Best Makeup FX.

Obsession received four nominations, including Best Director for Curry Barker and Best Lead Performance for Inde Navarrette.

“If there’s a theme to be found in this year’s crop of nominations, it’s that horror lovers do not and will not abide by what mainstream box office numbers decide the ‘winners’ are. The big horror hits are here, of course, but so too are fiercely independent visions that, for one reason or another, have yet to find the audience they deserve. If we can get more eyeballs on these genre gems by celebrating them at the Chainsaw Awards, that’s a win for all of us,” said Phil Nobile Jr., Editor-in-Chief of FANGORIA.

Nominees were selected by a panel of industry creators and professionals, recognizing horror releases from July 2025 through June 2026.

Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. PT on July 15. Winners will be announced during the 2026 FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards on October 25, streaming on Shudder.
