Sonia Mena Joins Ian Tuason’s ‘Paranormal Activity’
Sonia Mena (Tell Me Lies) has been cast in Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s new Paranormal Activity movie, reports Deadline.
Mena will star opposite Chase Yi (Mythic Quest).
The eighth film in the franchise that started with Oren Peli and his ultra-low-budget 2007 feature, we don’t have any plot details on the next Paranormal Activity at this time.
The untitled feature is produced by franchise newcomer James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring) and directed by Ian Tuason (Undertone).
Blum will produce for his and Wan’s Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, while Oren Peli produces for his Solana Films. Paramount is co-producing and co-financing with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
Between Mena and Yi, it seems as if Tuason’s Paranormal is aiming for up-and-coming stars. Personally, I think that’s a great approach, as found footage horror has to feel as real as possible to be at its most effective. That sometimes goes out the window when you have someone like, say, Margot Robbie, running around (random name drop, I know, but you get the idea).
The next Paranormal Activity movie has been set for a May 21, 2027, theatrical release.
