Simu Liu Tapped for Xavier Gens Sci-fi Thriller ‘Homewrecker’

Simu Liu (pictured above in Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings) has joined the cast of sci-fi thriller Homewrecker, reports Deadline this morning.
Liu joins previously cast Allison Williams (Get Out) and Michelle Randolph (M3GAN).
Homewrecker unfolds during a heartbreaking domestic revelation. Three star-crossed Americans are suddenly forced to work together to survive a terrifying, unexplained global event that threatens to destroy life as they know it.
Xavier Gens (Frontier(s)) directed the film from a script by Elisa Bell (Vegas Vacation) and Travis Gordon.
The project, which the producers have likened in spirit to Paramount sci-fi horror 10 Cloverfield Lane, is due to start production in France in mid-July of this year.
That cast plus Gens’ name attached already has me excited for this. Gens’ ultra-violent Frontier(s) delivered the bloody goods and made me an instant fan of the filmmaker’s visceral work. He recently directed Netflix’s hit shark movie Under Paris, while fellow French filmmaker Alex Aja will take over directing duties for its sequel.
Liu, meanwhile, is an excellent choice who has seen a bit of a well-deserved rise as of late. He recently appeared in films like Last Breath and Arthur the King, and crushed his bit role in Barbie as one of the many Kens. Of course, he’s also well known in Marvel fan circles, having played Shang-Chi and lent his voice to the series What If and Marvel Zombies.
Denise Di Novi (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Margaret French Isaac (Stepmom), and Oliver Scherick will produce for Di Novi Pictures, with John Zois (Greenland) and Warren Goz (The Marksman) producing for Parallel 42 Entertainment. Williams will also executive produce.
Michael Rothstein and Samuel Hall will executive produce for North.Five.Six, which is launching sales at the Cannes market. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group will co-represent domestic rights.
