The Wait is Over. Zach Cregger’s ‘Barbarian’ Finally Getting Physical Release this August!

Zach Cregger‘s Barbarian rocked my world when it released back in 2022. A twisty, tense, and utterly terrifying debut, the film instantly became one of my favorites of the year and announced an exciting new talent in the horror genre. Now, after four long years, 20th Century Studios and New Regency have announced that the film is finally getting a physical release! This August, fans will be able to get their hands on a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray SteelBook, dug up and retrieved from the deep, dark basement of movie purgatory.
Even better? The steelbook features artwork by mega-talented artist, Creepy Duck Design.
Barbarian‘s synopsis reads: “Traveling to Detroit for a job interview, a young woman books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.”
Georgina Campbell (Psycho Killer), Bill Skarsgård (IT), and Justin Long (Weapons) star.
In her review of the film, former Dread EIC Mary Beth McAndrews wrote, “Come for the mystery, stay for the unpredictable twists and turns because we’re going to be talking about this one for years to come.”
Bring the terror home when Barbarian arrives on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray SteelBook August 11th. Pre-orders open on July 2nd.
Physical media rules. It’s how we preserve film and ensure it doesn’t get lost to time. Finally, one of the best horror films of the decade has come home at last.
