John Carpenter Curating Horror Movie Marathon at TCM this July!

John Carpenter
'In Search of Darkness Part II'

One of the coolest moments in my life may be attending John Carpenter‘s Walk of Fame induction last year. The filmmaker behind movies like Halloween, The Thing and The Fog, his influence on myself and horror fans everywhere is as deep as the eyes of Michael Myers. He has inspired countless filmmakers and guided countless others into the realm of horror. And this July, Mr. Carpenter will curate a two-night horror movie marathon for TCM announced the channel, celebrating some of the movies that influenced him.

Dubbed The Carpenter Zone, the first evening of films runs on July 16th and will feature The Quatermass Xperiment, It! The Terror from Beyond Space and Them!. The second night runs on July 23rd with The Curse of Frankenstein, The Mummy and Curse of the Demon. All bangers, honestly.

Personally, I’m thrilled to see The Quatermass Xperiment on there, as Quatermass inspired the highly underrated but excellent Carpenter movie, Prince of Darkness.

Carpenter’s two-night event is just part of TCM’s all-month celebration of 250 years of the U.S. and the filmmakers who pioneered the industry. Included in the lineup will be celebrations of directors such as Ed Wood, George A. Romero, John Waters, David Lynch and many more.

Check out the rest of July’s lineup at TCM.com.
