Kevin Bacon Continues His Horror Run With ‘Summoner’; Produced by ‘It’s Andy Muschietti

Kevin Bacon is set to star in Summoner, an Amazon MGM horror thriller on which Jeremy Slater, the longtime genre writer behind Mortal Kombat II and Umbrella Academy, will make his directorial debut, according to THR.

The script, written by Slater, follows an exorcist named Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), who is called into an isolated witness protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, accidentally unleashing a force that threatens to end him and everything around him.

Horror filmmaker Andy Muschietti (It, Mama), Barbara Muschietti, and Russell Ackerman will produce via their Nocturna banner (They Will Kill You).

Kevin Bacon’s horror credits start with Friday the 13th (1980), where he plays Jack, one of the film’s early victims, then continue through the creature-feature classic Tremors (1990) and the supernatural thriller Stir of Echoes (1999). His recent horror run includes The Darkness (2016), You Should Have Left (2020), They/Them (2022), MaXXXine (2024), The Bondsman (2025), and the forthcoming Family Movie.

Dan Kagan, one of the producers of horror hit Longlegs, is executive producing. The feature will shoot this fall.

Slater also earned creator credits on Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight and Fox’s The Exorcist, as well as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
