‘A Quite Place’ Scribes Directing Sci-fi Feature with Steven Spielberg Producing

A Quiet Place

Big news this afternoon, as THR reports that Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writers behind A Quiet Place, will direct a high-concept sci-fi feature for Universal and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin!

Plot details are being kept a secret at this moment.

Spielberg will produce alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario. Beck and Woods will also produce via Beck/Woods along with Julia Glausi.

Though they had worked on a few films together beforehand, Beck and Woods first struck gold with the John Krasinski-directed creature feature, A Quiet Place. They then delivered one of the more brutal Halloween films of recent memory with Haunt. Since then, they’ve become a hot commodity, have written/directed dinosaur feature, 65, and the Hugh Grant chiller, Heretic. I don’t even need to know what this project is about for me to be seated.

That’s especially the case with Spielberg involved. The man is one of the kings of sci-fi movies, having directed Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., the War of the Worlds remake, and so many others. His latest, Disclosure Day, is now in theaters (read my review).

With so much talent involved, this is one we’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on.

Stay tuned to Dread for more details as we learn them.
