Chris Elliott Set to Star in Bigfoot Comedy ‘Bad Day for Bigfoot’

I’m a sucker for Bigfoot movies. Everything from The Legend of Boggy Creek to Willow Creek and Harry and the Hendersons, I’m in. I love that fury not-so-little cryptid. And it looks like we have another on the way, as Chris Elliott (pictured above in Scary Movie), Michael Ian Black (Superman), Sara Tomko (Resident Alien), Oliver Cooper (Project X) and James Duval (Donnie Darko!) have been cast in horror comedy, Bad Day for Bigfoot, reports Deadline.
Bad Day for Bigfoot “follows a Bigfoot hoax that goes horribly wrong in the middle of an actual Sasquatch hot spot, leading to a chaotic struggle between the hoaxers, investigators, and a supernatural force that defies explanation.”
Also starring are Ashley Rae Spillers, Brian McGuire and Kyle D. King.
The film marks the sophomore feature of Foil directors Zach Green and Devin O’Rourke.
Producers are Rafi Jacobs of Static Films and Christopher Jennings, co-founder of the Eastern Oregon Film Festival. Elliott will executive produce alongside Co-EPs Stephen Mastrocola of Static Films and H. Nelson Tracey.
Said Green, “I have always been drawn to cryptids and monster lore, and the over-the-top sincerity of 80s and 90s protagonists. Bad Day for Bigfoot is a love letter to those creature-filled adventure comedies. I couldn’t be more proud of the cast and crew we’ve assembled, and for the support and enthusiasm from the people of La Grande [Oregon]. It was their gumption that proved to us that making this thing was very possible, and that what’s lurking in those woods may be very real indeed…”
In horror comedy circles, Chris Elliot may be best known for his portrayal of Shorthand from the Scary Movie franchise. He’s also appeared in a ton of other classics, such as Groundhog Day, Manhunter and The Abyss. His casting immediately has me intrigued, as the man is hilarious. Looking forward to watching him laugh it up with the world’s most famous cryptid.
