Severin Films Bringing ‘Maniac’ Remake Starring Elijah Wood to UHD!
I’m a huge fan of the Severin Films label, and they just keep giving me reasons to feel that way. The latest comes in the form of the announcement today on IG that they are bringing the Maniac remake starring Elijah Wood (The Faculty) to UHD for the first time in North America! The news comes as part of Severin’s Summer Sale title reveals.
A stylish take on William Lustig‘s gory 1980 original, Wood takes over the role played by Joe Spinell as a killer who finds his deadly urges becoming more and more unstable.
Co-written/produced by Alexandre Aja (Crawl) and with the backing of Lustig himself as a producer, the 2012 take doesn’t have the same grittiness as the original, but it’s a damn good redux with a knockout performance from Wood. Stylish, trippy, and beautifully shot by Maxime Alexandre, it’s the sort of film that begs to be seen in the best way possible. Thanks to Severin, fans will now have that opportunity.
