‘Until Dawn 2’ Announced for PS5; Follows Ghost Hunters! [Trailer]

BREAKING: During State of Play, Sony has just announced that Until Dawn 2 is set to come to the console next year from Firesprite!
A trailer was released during the event, featuring a team of young ghost hunters in a tropical paradise who discover terror underneath the gorgeous surface.
The synopsis reads as follows: “Ready to die for likes? Join a team of ambitious ghost hunters as they chase their next viral hit on a remote island haunted by a woman’s chilling story of something far darker than they bargained for. When the tale begins to manifest in terrifying ways, survival will take more than a strong signal to get off the island alive. Their lives are in your hands. Make every choice count.”
The first Until Dawn arrived in 2015 from Supermassive Games and became an instant classic. An interactive survival horror story that lets you drive character choices, the story followed a group of teens at a remote cabin hunted by a killer, with a few massive twists and turns along the way.
A remake of the game, as well as a feature film adaptation from Gary Dauberman, have since released.
Supermassive has also continued putting out other games in the same vein, such as The Quarry and this year’s Directive 8020 (I just finished it. It’s great).
As good as those games have been, none have quite hit like Until Dawn. That game blew me away while opening my eyes to just how interactive video games could be. An opportunity to watch a slasher play out the way I want it to? No wonder the game was a hit. Let’s hope the sequel takes players back to what made the first Until Dawn so successful in the first place.
Until Dawn 2 comes to PlayStation®5 consoles in 2027.
