Italian Horror Veteran George Eastman of ‘Antropophagus’ Has Passed Away

Dreadful news this morning, as la Republicca reports that Italian genre star and writer, George Eastman, has passed away.
Eastman passed away as the result of health issues that had gotten progressively worse over the years.
The actor/scribe had a hand in numerous Italian genre titles, appearing in films such as Absurd, 1990: The Bronx Warriors and Delirium. He also penned scripts for The Great Alligator and StageFright, to name a few.
Of course, Eastman is perhaps most famous for his role as the villain, Klaus, in Antropophagus. About a group of friends stranded on an island and stalked by a cannibalistic killer, the film features one of the most gruesome scenes of all time. In it, Eastman rips an infant from the womb and proceeds to eat it. Those who enjoy a good dose of gory Italian cinema (myself included), praise the film for its shocking violence and Eastman’s intimidating performance. The actor was, after all, nearly seven feet tall.
Our hearts go out to Eastman and his friends/family. He was an Italian horror legend and he’ll be missed.
