Prison-Set Shark Survival Thriller ‘The Black Demon: Atlantis’ Begins Filming

ScreenDaily announces the shark survival thriller The Black Demon: Atlantis, which has begun production in Colombia and stars Jack Kesy (Hellboy: The Crooked Man) and Julio César Cedillo (Sicario).

The film is a sequel to The Black Demon, and this time, the titular beast wreaks havoc at a Pacific Ocean maximum-security prison as an undercover agent investigates inmate deaths.

Carmen Cabana, the cinematographer on Rosario and the TV series Ms. Marvel, is directing the follow-up to the 2023 theatrical release.

Harold Torres, Vanesa Restrepo, and Anthony Del Negro have joined the cast, and Aaron Benjamin, Boise Esquerra, and Cabana co-wrote the screenplay.

Javier Chapa is producing for Mucho Mas Media alongside Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier and Caleb Ward for worldwide rights holder Highland Film Group, which co-finances with Mucho Mas Media.

Highland Film Group has been selling the film at Cannes with rights going to Vertigo Releasing for the UK and Canada, Leonine Studios for Germany, Rialto Distribution for Australia/New Zealand, Mis.Label for Scandinavia, IIF for Italy, Nikkatsu/AMG for Japan, and Kinolights for South Korea.
