MUBI Is Taking ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’ on Tour

MUBI has announced the “Camp is in Session” North American tour for Jane Schoenbrun’s (I Saw the TV Glow, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair) highly anticipated new horror film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma ahead of its August 7 theatrical release.
The film stars Emmy winner Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, Sex Education, Scoop).
The ensemble cast also includes Amanda Fix (Orphan: First Kill), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon), Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby), Zach Cherry (Severance), Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live), Patrick Fischler (Mulholland Drive), Dylan Baker (Trick ‘r Treat), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Scream, Yellowjackets), Kevin McDonald (The Kids in the Hall), Quintessa Swindell (Master Gardener), and Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow).
The film is written and directed by Schoenbrun, with Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner producing for Plan B.
Following the strong response to the film’s world premiere as the Opening Night selection in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, Schoenbrun and Einbinder will embark on a multi-city North American screening tour featuring post-screening Q&As.
Dubbed the “Camp is in Session” tour, the event series will stop in New York, Provincetown, San Francisco, Montreal, Portland, and Medfield, Massachusetts.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma marks Schoenbrun’s fourth feature following I Saw the TV Glow, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, and documentary feature A Self-Induced Hallucination.
The film follows a once-popular slasher franchise called Camp Miasma that has been drained by years of cheap sequels and fading fandom before being rebooted by an ambitious young filmmaker.
But when she visits the original film’s now-reclusive star, the two women descend into a blood-soaked spiral of desire, fear, obsession, and delirium.
