Did Alfie Williams Just Confirm the Final ’28 Years Later’ Film?

Breaking: 28 Years Later star Alfie Williams appears to confirm the trilogy finale in a new Instagram post.
After 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple stumbled at the box office, the future of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s planned trilogy suddenly looked a lot less certain. The sequel reportedly grossed about $58.5 million worldwide against a $63 million budget, and Nia DaCosta has since admitted she wished the film “made more money.”
That was a problem because the third film had already sounded financially conditional. Boyle previously said they were “still trying to get the money” for Part Three, and the months of silence after The Bone Temple only made things look more ominous.
But maybe the trilogy closer isn’t dead yet.
Alfie Williams, who plays Spike in the first two 28 Years Later films, has posted new Instagram photos showing himself practicing with a bow and arrow — the weapon closely associated with his character. Is Williams simply training, or is Spike officially back? Does this mean the third and final movie is moving forward? And is an announcement imminent?
For now, Sony hasn’t confirmed anything. But after months of silence, this is the clearest sign of life fans have had in a while.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (review), the sequel to Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later and directed by Candyman filmmaker Nia DaCosta, is a continuation of the epic story where Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship with consequences that could change the world as they know it, and Spike’s (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) becomes a nightmare he can’t escape.
