‘Hope’ – Neon Shares Clip From ‘The Wailing’ Director’s New… Creature Feature?

Cannes kicks off this week, and Neon (Longlegs, Hokum) has shared a clip from Hope, the latest genre offering from The Wailing director Na Hong-Jin.

While this clip teases a police procedural thriller, we’re being told that Hope is nothing short of a full-blown creature feature.

The film’s title comes from the location: In Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone, police outpost chief Bum-seok receives alarming news from locals that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.

There’s allegedly a sci-fi component as well.

Starring Hwang Jung-min (The Wailing), Zo In-sung (Moving), Hoyeon (“Squid Game”), Michael Fassbender (The Killer), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Taylor Russell (Bones and All), and Cameron Britton (“Mindhunter”), Hope marks the first feature from Hong-jin since his excellent folk horror film, The Wailing.

The film is set to play during Cannes 2026.
