I don’t know about you all, but I can’t wait to see what Peacock has in store for “Crystal Lake“, the prequel series based on Sean S. Cunningham‘s Friday the 13th. My wife and I are huge Jason fans. It has practically become our religion to watch a Friday film every Friday the 13th. So, I perk up whenever I hear anything about the upcoming series. And today, showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (“IT: Welcome to Derry”) is teasing something BIG.
The creator took to IG this afternoon to announce in a post: “News coming. Monday. We’re all doomed.”
Alongside the comment, he posted a photo that seems to depict the back side of a young Jason Voorhees’ head, played by Callum Vinson.
Friday fans, now would be an appropriate time to lose your minds. I know I am.
Based on the slasher series begun by Sean S. Cunningham in 1980, Crystal Lake follows a doomed small town where camp counselors come to die. It tells the origins of the Voorhees family and leads up to the “birth” of the ultimate slasher: Jason.
The brand-new show stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees and includes earlier versions of characters from the original film, such as Crazy Ralph (Nick Cordileone), Claudette (Danielle Kotch), and Barry (Phoenix Parnevik), along with new characters connected to the town’s history.
At this moment, Crystal Lake is set to invite campers back sometime in 2026. Perhaps the announcement Monday could be a release date? Maybe a trailer? I don’t know. But with Mother’s Day just around the corner and the series centered around Pamela, well, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
