Art the Clown to Crash New Year’s Eve in ‘Terrifier 4’!

Art the Clown (played by David Howard Thornton), the villain of the popular Terrifier franchise, has a habit of ruining holidays for his victims. In the first two films, he trick-or-treated (mostly tricked) people to death on Halloween. In part 3, he delivered gifts of gruesome dread on Christmas. And according to writer/director Damien Leone, the killer clown will now crash New Year’s Eve in Terrifier 4!

The filmmaker took to IG to declare the news, with the caption: “No space. No Easter bunny. Art’s bringing in the New Year!

For fans of the franchise, this is exciting news. They’ve become accustomed to Art wreaking havoc through the holidays, and terrorizing his victims on New Year’s Eve makes perfect sense. Especially because, as we all know, setting your slasher film around a holiday all but guarantees annual revisits. At this rate, Art the Clown will own half the calendar…and I don’t think fans will complain about that.

We still don’t know much else about the film other than it will supposedly mark the finale in the series. But, as horror villains go, the end is almost never really the end, so we’ll see.

Franchise heroine Lauren LaVera recently gave an update saying that Leone was “close” to finishing the script and that it would “be a surprise”, as she hadn’t read it yet.

Back in February, Leone wrote, “The script is very close to completion, and I’m hoping to begin pre-production this spring. This is the most precious script I’ve written for many reasons, but it’s also the most challenging. There’s a lot of material to tackle and a lot riding on this one, not just creatively but emotionally.”

With the announcement that Terrifier 4 will take place on New Year’s, it sounds like the franchise is gearing up to go out with one hell of a bloody bang.
