Eric André Set to Save the World in Apocalyptic Action-Comedy ‘Synergy Systems’

Eric André (I Love Boosters) is set to star in the apocalyptic action-comedy, Synergy Systems, reports Deadline this morning.
Described as “a punk, action-charged, near-future thriller”, the film “follows terminally indecisive data analyst Bemis (André) as he uncovers that his employer, Synergy Systems, is a front for an apocalyptic doomsday plot. He’s then forced to do the unthinkable: step up as humanity’s last line of defense. The catch? He’s spineless, spectacularly unqualified, and wildly unprepared to save the world.”
The film marks the directorial debut of writer Toby Harvard (Come to Daddy).
Producing are Steven Demmler via Talon Entertainment (Atonement, Oh Canada), Dane Eckerle for his Bad Grey label (I Love My Dad, Mermaid), and Iconoclast (Sacrifice, Spring Breakers). Talon’s Anthony F. Panza will executive producer.
Harvard referred to André in a statement as, “the most fearless and unique voice in American comedy. With an extraordinary group of collaborators, I’m thrilled to watch him embody a character who feels like the bastard lovechild of Chauncey Gardner and Neo.”
André hasn’t appeared too much in the genre world, though he did star in an episode of “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities” entitled “The Viewing”. Having appeared in all sorts of comedies ranging from Rough Night to Sing 2 and the upcoming I Love Boosters, it’ll be fun to watch him take on whatever the threat is in Synergy Systems (I’m assuming AI).
