‘Casper the Friendly Ghost’ Getting New Live-Action Series from Disney+!

Disney+ ain’t afraid of no ghosts, as Deadline reports they have landed a new live-action series take on Casper the Friendly Ghost!
Casper will be summoned by Rob Letterman and Hilary Winston (“Goosebumps”). The pair also serve as executive producers. Both will write for the project, with Letterman directing.
The outlet notes that no plot details have been revealed, but the take is described as a “modern update” that’s “believed to have a dark edge to it the way “Wednesday” tackles the Addams Family lore.”
Also serving as an executive producer is Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park), who produced the 1995 Casper film.
Casper first appeared in over fifty theatrical cartoons produced by Paramount Pictures titled The Friendly Ghost from 1945-1959. He has since brought his ghostly presence to numerous comics, television films and movies.
Stay tuned to Dread for more details as we dig them up.
