Six More Join Cast for Netflix and Legendary’s ‘Gundam’ Movie as Production Begins

Netflix and Legendary have begun production on their live-action Gundam movie, adding six more to the cast, reports Deadline. Joining the film are Jackson White (Tell Me Lies), Nonso Anozie (Sweet Tooth), Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton (Under the Bridge), Oleksandr Rudynskyi (The Agency), Ida Brooke (Dune: Part Three), and Jason Isaacs (Even Horizon).
They join stars Sydney Sweeney (Immaculate), Noah Centineo (Street Fighter), Jason Clarke (Pet Sematary), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2), Michael Mando (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Gemma Chua-Tran (Lesbian Space Princess).
That is one loaded cast.
Based on the long-running multimedia franchise from Bandai Namco Filmworks that pioneered the sci-fi subgenre known as “mecha”, new plot details have also been released! According to the outlet, the film “follows rival mech pilots fighting on opposing sides of a decades-long war between Earth and its former space colonies. As shifting allegiances and a growing threat set them on a collision course for one another, they’re pulled into a high-stakes race across the stars that could decide the fate of humanity.”
Jim Mickle (Sweet Tooth) wrote the script and will direct.
Produced by Legendary Pictures in partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks, this will be the first live-action Gundam movie.
Mickle is producing alongside his partner Linda Moran through their production company Nightshade, along with Cale Boyter, Ali Mendes, Sweeney, Centineo, and Enzo Marc. Matthew Jenkins, Makoto Asanuma, and Naohiro Ogata are executive producing.
Production is taking place in Queensland, Australia.
