‘Play Dead’ – Netflix Acquires WWII Thriller from ‘The Shallows’ Director

Netflix has decided to Play Dead by acquiring the WWII thriller from filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows), reports Deadline.

In Play Dead, “a shell-shocked soldier who, after seeing a deadly ambush wipe out his unit in the final days of World War II, must survive the night by pretending to be dead while surrounded by an enemy battalion of Nazi soldiers.”

The outlet notes that the project has previously been described as Don’t Breathe meets 1917. Say no more. This sounds fantastic.

Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) and Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of the Dead) star.

Natalie Conway and Peter Stanley-Ward wrote the script.

Sam Raimi‘s Ghost House Pictures is producing, along with Nocturnal Entertainment, BoulderLight Pictures, and Bad Grey. Nocturnal Entertainment financed the film.

Collet-Serra, Scott Greenberg, Chris M. Bonifay, Jose Cañas, Romel Adam, Chris Musselwhite, Louis Winters and Michele Chan Soon-Shiong executive produced.
