‘Hungry’ Trailer Looks Like a Dead Serious Slasher, Only With a Killer Hippo!

This hippo is not here to play games.
One of our most anticipated movies of the year is Hungry, a new horror film featuring a rampaging, killer hippo!
Written and directed by James Nunn (One Shot trilogy, Wildcat), the film centers on a group of holidaymakers who must fight for their lives against a rampaging hippo on the loose after becoming lost in the Louisiana swamplands.”
Dread Central has the official trailer, which impresses with its straight-faced intensity and clear throwback to survival horror staples like Razorback. It’s Jaws only with an extremely hungry hippo that stalks and kills people like the very best of slashers. It looks really, really good.
The cast includes Madison Davenport (It’s What’s Inside, Sharp Objects) alongside Joaquim de Almeida (Road House, Fast Five, Queen of the South), Tracey Bonner (The Exorcism, Cobra Kai), Jim Meskimen (Apollo 13, Parks and Recreation), Samantha Coughlan (Arcadian, Damage), Olivia Bernstone (Mood) Michel Curiel (She Hulk: Attorney At Law) and River Codack (Under the Bridge).
Hungry is produced by Ben Jacques (One Shot trilogy, The Hatton Garden Job) and executive produced by Signature Films’ CEO Marc Goldberg and Head of Production & Development Sarah Gabriel (Riff Raff, Trap House).
“We are beyond excited to introduce a new animal apex killer to the film market, one that has been overlooked and underestimated despite its colossal stature and its ferocity,” said EVP of International Sales at Capture Ella Field earlier this year. “A new – very real – fear will be unlocked for all those attending the screening.”
Hungry will arrive on VOD and digital platforms on June 23rd, 2026.
