‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ Trailer Description: Godzilla Takes New York City!

The official teaser trailer for Toho’s Godzilla Minus Zero stomps out of CinemaCon in Las Vegas tonight. But, if you’re like me and can’t possibly wait, descriptions are already pouring out from those who have been lucky enough to see it in advance.

“Teaser ends with a shot of Godzilla walking past the Statue of Liberty and towering over it, prompting Ooohs and Aaahs from the crowd,” said TheInSneider.

I’m sorry, Godzilla takes New York? Hook this movie into my veins now.

Discussing Film’s EIC, Jacob Fisher, has me particularly excited. “The shot of Godzilla with the Statue of Liberty in this teaser is going to be instantly iconic,” he said. “We saw a bunch of behind the scenes footage too and the scale is 10X larger than the first film.

The scale is 10X larger than Godzilla Minus One? Be still, my beating heart.

Adds Andrew J. Salazar of Discussing Film, “Thanks to the naivety of the U.S. pushing nuclear tests, Godzilla returns in a larger, much more menacing form and finally reaches… New York. We got to see BTS that teased a lot of the Japanese set pieces as well, with [director Takashi] Yamazaki using IMAX cameras.”

We saw our beloved Kaiju attack New York way back in the 1998 American-made Godzilla. But, I think most of us would like to forget that ever happened. I’ll gladly take whatever director Takashi Yamazaki has in store for us, instead.

Variety also offers a brief plot description, saying, “The trailer picks up two years after Minus One and continues the story of the survivors’ from the kaiju’s last attack, director Takashi Yamazaki revealed. In the closing moments, Godzilla stomps his way to the Statue of Liberty, setting his sights on New York City.”

Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One surprised everyone when it released back in 2023. For many, including myself, it’s the best Godzilla film since the 1954 original. So good, in fact, that it even won an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects. No wonder then that fans of the King of the Monsters have been waiting anxiously to get their first look at the next entry, Godzilla Minus Zero. By all accounts, it sounds like we’re in for an even bigger and better adventure.

Stay tuned to Dread for when the trailer roars out of CinemaCon tonight.

Godzilla Minus Zero will release in U.S. theaters on November 6, 2026.
