‘Mortal Kombat II’ Second Official Trailer – Discover What Makes a Hero this May

Mortal Kombat II

The Mortal Kombat (2021) reboot was a gruesome surprise that (mostly) nailed what audiences expected from an adaptation of the popular fighting video game franchise. It was no surprise that it was announced we’d be getting a sequel. Today, a brand new trailer has been released for Mortal Kombat II, giving fans a deeper look at the bloody carnage coming our way this May!

In it, Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) pontificates over what makes a hero, cut to a series of bloody battles that’ll have fans of Mortal Kombat cheering, “finish him!” Hearing that iconic theme at the end has me giddy for what’s to come.

Based on the video game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, Mortal Kombat II follows “the fan favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — as they are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.”

Simon McQuoid returns to direct from a script written by Jeremy Slater (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire).

The film also stars Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano and CJ Bloomfield.

Mortal Kombat II orders you to get over here when it hits theaters on May 8th from Warner Bros.
