Get ready for some nasty body horror in director Sergio Pinheiro’s new film, Wormtown, coming soon to VOD from Cranked Up Films. Written by Andrew James Myers, this is a new kind of post-apocalypse, one that’s quieter, strangely beautiful, and totally terrifying. After a successful festival run, we’re excite to share the film’s official trailer ahead of its November release!

But first, read the film’s full synopsis:

One year into a plague of flesh-eating, mind-altering worms, the nocturnal town of Ashland, Ohio, has embraced the parasites’ rule. Under cult-like Mayor Joshua, zealous Ranchers spread their gospel—by persuasion or by force. A trio of uninfected women cling to survival through scavenging, extreme hygiene, and evasion. But everyone breaks eventually, unleashing betrayal, sacrilege, and body horror.

Now, watch the official trailer:

In her review of the film, Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews wrote,

Overall, Wormtown is one of 2025’s biggest surprises. It’s not just stomach-churning, but it’s also heartfelt and poignant, a unique genre experience that isn’t afraid to make you cry and nauseous in the same beat. Cranked Up Films is secretly creeping up as a must-watch company as they continue to help create nasty indie art.

Caitlin McWethy, Rachel Ryu, Emily Soppe, Maggie Lou Rader, and Madison Murrah star in the new film.

Wormtown comes to digital on November 7, 2025.
