Originally released in 2001, it was pretty clear right off the bat that the Japanese survival horror game Fatal Frame was ripe for a terrifying feature film adaptation. Over a decade later and after a few sequels, it’s finally happening; and we’ve got your first look today!
Per Bloody Disgusting, the teaser trailer for the adaptation has just hit the net with the film dated for release in Japan on September 26th. The trailer is entirely in Japanese, but it gives us an insight into what we can expect from the film. Check it out below!
This will be the first of two upcoming Fatal Frame movies with a fifth installment in the video game series currently in development for the Wii U.
Based on the novel adaptation of the original game, Fatal Frame will be set in a dormitory where students start going missing.
Nakajo Ayami plays Aya Tsukimori, who’s involved in some sort of cursed magic at the dormitory. Morikawa Aoi will play the part of sleuthing classmate Michi Kazato, who’s investigating mysterious disappearances at the dorm.
