Scream Factory Charges Up The BatteryIt’s been called one of the best zombie films in years, and after scooping up heaps of acclaim on both the festival and VOD circuits, Jeremy Gardner’s must-see film The Battery (review) is headed to home video, courtesy of our friends over at Scream Factory. Release details await!

Over on their Facebook page, Scream Factory revealed that the Blu-ray release of The Battery has been given the street date September 16th, with pre-order links set to make their way onto the net real soon. No details have been confirmed about extras, but we’re told they will be available real soon.

In the meantime, check out the reversible artwork for the release below, featuring the original theatrical poster on one side and a brand new piece of alternate art on the other. Dig it!

The film follows Ben (Gardner) and Mickey (Adam Cronheim), two former baseball players with clashing personalities, as they trek through a bleak landscape overrun with the walking dead searching for a glimmer of hope.

With the emphasis placed less on the zombies and more on the dynamic between the two diametrically opposite main characters, The Battery is an incredibly ambitious film that defies convention and is loaded with emotion and a sense of sentimentality not often seen in your traditional zombie flick. It’s also proof positive that a great movie is made through passion and dedication, not a huge budget or crazy special effects.
