The era of Glen Powell just keeps going, as the A-list actor stars in the new sci-fi film, The Running Man, based on a novel by Stephen King. Helmed by Edgar Wright, this take on the dystopic tale promises to be action-packed and stylish, much like the rest of the films in the director’s filmography. And you can get a taste of that in the new trailer, released today!

But first, check out the full synopsis:

In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward.

Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.

Now, watch the first official trailer:

Glen Powell, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, and Jayme Lawson star in the new Stephen King adaptation with Colman Domingo and Josh Brolin. Wright penned the screenplay with Michael Bacall, which is based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel. The Running Man was initially published under King’s pseudonym, Richard Bachman, and was the last book published under that name before his identity was leaked to the public.

Wright produced The Running Man with Simon Kinberg and Nira Park. George Linder, James Biddle, Rachael Prior, Audrey Chon, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary served as executive producers.

The Running Man comes exclusively to theaters on November 7, 2025.
