Slender For Gender: The Slenderverse Community To Raise Money For Trans Lifeline This Pride Month
The Slender Man Mythos has spawned countless stories featuring the internet boogeyman from 2009 until today, from the original images on the SomethingAwful Forums, to Slenderverse webseries and blogs created by thousands of everyday people. In 2023, Valeria Santiago (Stan Frederick, redredhat) and -k. (hiimarymary) founded the charity event ‘Slender For Gender’ and raised over $13,000 for Trans Lifeline with the help of the Slenderverse community. Now, on the 16th anniversary of the character’s creation, Slender For Gender returns, running from June 10 to June 21, 2025.
Slender For Gender is a charity event run by and for the Slenderverse community in an effort to raise money in support of the transgender community, with all proceeds going to the Trans Lifeline charity. This year’s event is organized by a team of Slenderverse community members, including Alex Hera (Slenderverse: A Documentary Film Series), Al (Beth Kindred), Beckett Faith (The Tutored Eye), Ghost Capelton (Witness Truth), Laya Liebeseller (Confluence), M4ngey (For Auld Lang Syne), MadCat (TheAbbeyDiaries), Rain Dalton (Slenderverse: A Documentary Film Series), and Ted Spector (Artificial Intolerance).
The Slender for Gender organizers told Dread Central:
“The Slenderverse community has long been a space for passionate artists to come together to find support for their creative endeavors and acceptance from like-minded peers. Members of the community, queer and otherwise, rallied around the first Slender for Gender in 2023 to support trans rights. Now more than ever, we feel it’s important to use our voices again to support the transgender community in the face of ever-growing attacks on their right to exist.“
In Slender For Gender 2025, you can participate in a 25-chapter choose-your-own adventure Slender-story like no other, where four adventurers are chased across time and space by everyone’s favorite tall, faceless monster. Twice daily at the end of each chapter, you can donate to vote on which choice the characters will make. The most popular choice will dictate what happens in the next chapter. Will they survive? Will they perish in the dark? The choice is yours.
You can also participate in three livestreams hosted by the organizers of Slender For Gender on June 10, 14, and 21, featuring panel discussions, games, and the TTRPG one-shot “The Ten Candles of the Crockmire Estate”.
