Woman Horrified by What She Sees on Her Doorbell Cam: “I’m scared to leave the house—I’m scared to be at the house” [Horror IRL]

Stranger in a satanic mask surprises unsuspecting homeowners

A Dallas area couple recently got an unexpected surprise after a night out. On January 18, 2025, the pair (who have asked to remain anonymous) were heading back home after dinner when they made a pit stop to purchase a Powerball ticket. At that very moment, they received an unexpected surprise at their front door.

A stranger in a satanic-looking goat mask (see below) rang their video doorbell while holding a sign reading: “Revelation 20: 1-15.” CBS News caught up with the husband and wife after their footage began circulating online.

“It’s about the end of times,” the female homeowner told the outlet. “It’s about judgment day. I freaked out. I mean I was… I couldn’t even think of anything.”

“I’m scared,” she continued. “I’m scared to leave the house. I’m scared to be at the house.”

The frazzled Dallas-area natives responded to the unwanted drop-in by calling the local police, however, the stranger sporting a satanic mask had already left by the time they arrived back home. Law enforcement took down a report but noted that there was no criminal act evident in the footage. Authorities reassured her that they would continue to patrol the area, imploring the couple to stay aware of their surroundings and report anything out of the ordinary.

I sympathize with the unsettled homeowners, however, I strongly suspect that the demonstration has an innocuous explanation. In fact, it reminds me a bit of the Hell House haunt in nearby Cedar Hill, Texas (about 20 minutes outside Dallas). The extreme attraction stages horrifying displays of people ‘succumbing to their sins’ in grandiose fashion before trying to convert ‘sinners’ to their particular brand of religion.

The 2001 documentary Hell House shows the Cedar Hill Trinity Church putting on skits where gay men die of AIDS-related complications or teen girls terminate an unplanned pregnancy in agonizing detail. The short plays have a Biblical focus and aim to scare people straight.

This sinister game of ding dong ditch could very well be the work of a similar organization. With that said, the timing is a little unusual, given that the stranger in the satanic mask dropped by in January, rather than October when the extreme haunt historically sets up shop nearby.
