VFX Master And Roger Corman Collaborator Alec Gillis Shares His Favorite Horror Movies [Watch]

If you’re a horror fan, chances are you’re very familiar with the work of VFX legend Alec Gillis. He’s worked on some of the biggest titles out there, including Alien: Romulus, Godzilla vs. Kong, and The Predator. But he’s been working in the industry for much longer, getting his start in 1980 with the legendary Roger Corman at New World Pictures. That’s why he’s hosting the latest episode of Shout! TV’s new original series Double Take, which features celebrity guests hosting and curating themed double features. In celebration of Corman’s birthday, Gillis is hosting a marathon in the genre icon’s honor!

Ahead of the episode, Gillis shared with Dread Central a few of his favorite horror movies, and some of his answers may surprise you!

The marathon, which airs on April 5, 2025, starting at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, will include Battle Beyond The Stars and Galaxy of Terror, both notable Corman films that Gillis worked on. Fun fact: Gillis also worked on these films with names like James Cameron.

Tune in for exclusive intros with Gillis as he shares his experiences with Corman and his connection to the films. To keep the birthday celebrations going, ShoutFactory.com will be running a sale on Roger Corman’s films on physical media from April 2 to April 11.
