Mike Flanagan Loves this Charming Streaming Horror Comedy Gem From ‘Heart Eyes’ Director
I cannot wait for the release of Heart Eyes, you guys. The film is getting great reviews thus far and it looks like it’s destined to become a V-Day horror staple in the years to come. The film’s director, Josh Ruben, has been on a hot streak for the past several years. He came onto our radar with his indie horror comedy Scare Me and followed that up with a film that one Mike Flanagan counts as a personal fave.
That’s right, Mike Flanagan is a die-hard fan of Ruben’s horror comedy Werewolves Within. How do I know? I know because Mr. Flanagan added the lycanthropic horror comedy to a Letterboxd list showcasing his favorite horror films. That is how I know.
Where is Werewolves Within available to stream?

Ruben directed Werewolves Within from a screenplay by author and comedian Mishna Wolff. The screen treatment is based on a VR video game of the same name. The game is set in medieval times, whereas the motion picture moves the action to the present.
Werewolves Within made its world premiere at Tribeca in June of 2021. The picture bowed in select theaters later that month. During its limited release to just 270 theaters, the feature pulled in nearly $1 million at the box office. Not a bad showing.
Both critics and movie lovers responded positively to the film. In fact, Werewolves Within is ‘certified fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive critical approval rating of 86%.
The film stars Sam Richardson, Milana Vayntrub, George Basil, Sarah Burns, Michael Chernus, Catherine Curtin, Wayne Duvall, and Harvey Guillén.
