The film follows a group of New Yorkers on a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous and murderous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers. What starts as a relaxing commute quickly spirals into a nightmarish fight for survival.
“I’m thrilled to unveil the first teaser for Screamboat in theaters with Stream,” said director Steven LaMorte. “Working with David Howard Thornton again has been incredible, and I can’t wait for audiences to see our mischievous take on Steamboat Willie. This teaser is just a taste of the terror and laughs to come.”
Thornton stars in Screamboat with Allison Pittel (Stream), Amy Schumacher (The Mean One), Jesse Posey (Teen Wolf), Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai), Rumi C Jean-Louis (Hightown), and horror veterans Jarlath Conroy (George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead) and Charles Edwin Powell (The Exorcist III).
The film’s creature effects are being brought to life by Christian Beckman’s Quantum Creation FX, Inc. (The Last Voyage of the Demeter), with creature design by concept artist Christian Cordella (Avatar: The Way of Water). A mix of practical effects, miniatures, and cutting-edge virtual production will showcase the terrifying yet whimsical mouse in all his gory glory.
Screamboat is produced by Amy Schumacher, Martine Melloul, Steven LaMorte, Steven Della Salla, and Michael Leavy, with executive production by Kali Pictures, Sleight of Hand Productions, Reckless Content, and Julien Didon. The film is set for a theatrical release in 2025, distributed by Iconic Events Releasing.
Stream will premiere on August 21, 2024, across theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
