Knoxville Horror Film Fest 2024 Celebrates Wes Craven [Exclusive]
The Knoxville Horror Film Fest (KHFF) returns Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20 for its 16th annual weekend of scares! The festival is kicking off its 2024 lineup announcements with details on this year’s centerpiece event and a sneak peek at its competitive slate.
On Friday, October 18 at the Parkway Drive-In in nearby Maryville, Tennessee, Knoxville Horror Film Fest is thrilled to present an anniversary triple feature celebrating a pivotal decade in the career of legendary writer/director Wes Craven, pairing A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984, 40th anniversary) with meta franchise mic-drop New Nightmare (1994, 30th anniversary) and his underrated, not-unrelated Shocker (1989, 35th anniversary).
The Lineup So Far
KHFF is also pleased to announce a trio of fresh indie horror titles headlining its 2024 feature competition: Jill Gevargizian’s The Stylist follow-up Ghost Game, podcast heavyweight Elric Kane’s solo narrative debut The Dead Thing, and Carl Fry & Maxwell Nalevansky’s uproarious stoner oddity Rats! These films and many more will screen over the course of the weekend at KHFF headquarters Central Cinema, Knoxville’s only independent movie theater.
This is just the first batch of titles confirmed for this year’s event. Southeastern horrorhounds are encouraged to stay tuned for more announcements throughout the summer as the festival details its usual mix of feature premieres, offbeat classics, touring short films, and Tennessee-based DIY productions, plus plenty of other treats including the annual Grindhouse Grind-Out filmmaking contest.
Short and feature film submissions remain open through August 24 via FilmFreeway.
Full weekend passes and single-evening drive-in tickets will go on sale in early September. Until then, Knoxville Horror Film Fest will see you in your dreams!
