From the Press Release
To celebrate over 30 years of survival horror, UK filmmaker Anthony Carpendale is crowdfunding through November to bring feature film and web series Playing with Fear to the screen in 2014. There will be many acclaimed indie games featured, and Konami has agreed to throw open their doors and participate in Playing with Fear, granting rare access to the story behind Silent Hill!
This will be the first ever in-depth documentary entirely about horror games, and the shoot will begin in January. Free web episodes will be released on YouTube and other video sites throughout the year as the crew visits game developers, companies, experts, and events in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the United States, Poland, and Japan. Featured developers working in Indonesia and Argentina are also involved.
Other confirmed game developers include the creators behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Lone Survivor, The 7th Guest, Scratches, Year Walk, Among the Sleep, and Fran Bow. More are being added every day.
“As the first documentary of its kind, we want it to be the definitive horror gaming exploration for years to come,” enthused director Carpendale. The production will culminate in a feature film drawn from the footage gathered across the year and will be taken on the documentary festival circuit.
