‘Paranormal Activity’: Official Game Being Developed by DreadXP [Video]

It was announced today that Brian Clarke, developer of The Mortuary Assistant, is helming a Paranormal Activity game in collaboration with DreadXP, Dark Stone Digital, and Paramount Pictures.

A short teaser was released today, with just a simple logo and text stating who is developing. While we have little information on the title, it’s an exciting partnership, to say the least.

With his award-winning game The Mortuary Assistant, Dark Stone Digital is the perfect developer to do the series justice when bringing it across mediums. Because of The Mortuary Assistant‘s gameplay loop involving multiple hauntings and demonic aspirations, it’s clear to see why Clarke is the right person for the job.

It’ll be interesting to see if the game follows the story already told in the Paranormal Activity universe or if this will be a new story or tie into the series in some way. This is exciting for both fans of horror games and the film series. Anything can happen in Paranormal Activity, after all.

Clarke exclusively told Dread Central:

Paranormal Activity was huge in shaping the kind of horror I’m into today. It’s safe to say that it’s been a large influence on the type of games I create as well, so it really feels like I’m coming full circle. I couldn’t be more excited to work on it.”

When speaking of his past experiences, Clarke said,

“I feel like I’ve developed a style within the horror space that truly reflects the type of tension and looming discomfort Paranormal Activity gave me when I was younger. I’m eager to take that style, as well as all I’ve learned in my years of game development, and apply it to this project. Paranormal Activity is something I love, and I really want to do the franchise justice.”
