‘Scream’ Writer Kevin Williamson Remaking Fincher’s ‘The Game’ and Hitchcock’s ‘Rear Window’ for Television

The Game

If you were a 90s kid, you know Kevin Williamson’s work. He is responsible for hits like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and even the teen drama Dawson’s Creek. His hold over us did not end with that millennium, as he started churning out horror television like The Vampire Diaries and thrillers like The Following

So, Universal Television signing Williamson to an overall TV deal allowing him to push out new shows for us to obsess over is big news. Not only will he continue corrupting most of us, but he will also have the chance to stress out this newer generation.

According to Deadline, Kevin Willamson is entering the chat with four new series we cannot wait to get our hands on. He is working on a reimagining of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window that will air on Peacock. He’s also adapting Ruth Ware’s book, The It Girl, alongside Sarah L. Thompson (who has written for How To Get Away With Murder and Yellowjackets). Williamson is also working on a serialized version of The Game based on the David Fincher movie that was written by John Brancato & Michael Ferris. Brancato and Ferris will serve as executive producers on the project. Our busy scribe is also working on an original series, The Waterfront, that follows a North Carolina crime family.

This is great news for all the Kevin Williamson fans who watched last year’s Sick and instantly missed having his work on our screens more regularly. However, we are not the only ones giddy about Williamson joining the Universal Television family. William told Deadline, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the Universal Television family.”

“When making television, it’s so important to have partners who believe, support, and inspire you. In Universal Television I have found exactly that. I’m excited to be working with such an amazing team doing what I love to do.” – Kevin Williamson via Deadline

If I was not already planning to be home, I would rearrange my life to be in the house whenever these four shows drop. As a 90s kid, I do not play when it comes to Kevin Williamson’s work. If it feels like your little nerd heart might also give out, find me at @misssharai.
