‘Cuckoo’ Teaser Trailer: The Adolescent Needs To Be Trained

Cuckoo

At long last, we have our first look at Neon’s Cuckoo, the newest film from Tilman Singer. The teaser is merely a static shot of star Hunter Schafer wielding a butterfly knife while an off-putting narration about training the adolescent plays. Simple, terrifying, and evocative. It’s all you need for a damn effective horror teaser.

Read the full synopsis below:

Reluctantly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Something doesn’t seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family.

Neon’s marketing department deserves an award for their campaigns this year. It’s only February and they’ve already captured the collective souls of the horror community with both this campaign and the one for Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs. It’s going to be a banger year for original horror.

Cuckoo was shot on 35mm and stars Schafer and Dan Stevens.

Cuckoo comes exclusively to theaters on May 3, 2024.
