Suscos Sells Sanctuary

Grudge and Grudge 2 screenwriter Stephen Susco continues to make deals left and right in Hollywood and has faithfully stuck with our genre through it all. This morning it was announced that Lionsgate has scooped up a new spec script by Susco called Sanctuary, which is based on the novel Bad Men by John Connolly.

The story is a supernatural tale about a woman with a very mysterious past who takes refuge on a haunted island off the coast of Maine, known to the locals as Sanctuary. Why someone with a haunted past would find refuge on a haunted island I have no idea, but then history has proven time and time again that girls are weird. For a taste of what you’re in for with the film, check out author Connolly’s official site.

Mark Amin and Allison Rosenzweig will produce, and a director will be sought once the scripted is fully fleshed out. Susco’s script for the Jack Ketchum novel Red will be going in front of cameras next month with The Woods director Lucky McKee at the helm. Stay tuned for more on both projects as their time approaches!
