Surreal Stone Metroidvania Grime Looks Like It Rocks
Grime is an incredibly weird game, to say the least. I always appreciate a new strange artistic style, and thus far at Gamescom, this one takes the cake. Set in a strange world where everything seems to be made of stone—including all the living creatures—you must traverse this harsh land simply due to the unfortunate incident of being birthed into this life. “An unusual material collapses in on itself, the world shudders and contracts, and suddenly you are squeezed into existence,” in Grime you play as some kind of singularity, a teeny tiny black hole atop a shape-shifting body.
Grime appears to be some form of metroidvania, with hardcore Dark Souls-y combat. Of course, Souls games don’t have aerial combos, so Grime has a leg up here already. With the ability to not only shape-shift some cool living weapons, but also the ability to use the black hole in combat, you’ve got a formidable fighting style against the Beksinski-esque creatures in your way.
There’s no release date yet, but you can wishlist Grime on Steam by clicking here. And for more information, check out the Grime website here.
